Higher Moral Grounds Haunts Tee Keat in Halloween

Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat when he decided to adopt the sentence imposed by the Disciplinary board by sacking his previous deputy president commented that he cannot work with a morally tainted person. Since then, he is a leader who is perceived to hold high moral standards.

Pre-EGM, Ong Tee Keat issued public statements, reaffirming his higher moral standards, and claimed that if the vote of no confidence was carried, regardless of the number of votes, he shall step down.

Let us fast forward to 2 weeks after the EGM where an over-confident Ong Tee Keat was humbled by the votes casted and knew he has to deliver what he promised. Following from that, on 10.10.2009 around 1645, Ong Tee Keat met up with the CC members and indicated his interest to resign.

Let us pause for a moment. If the story ends here, he would have packed his stuff and head home to prepare to celebrate Halloween as a hero in the eyes of the nation.

On the contrary, he went back on his own words and attempts to justify his stay in MCA by uniting the party. From that moment onwards, he has lost all his credibility and integrity. This is akin to insulting the intelligence of the central delegates and the nation as a whole.

He who judged others will be judged. He has failed to live up as a leader of MCA and the same yardstick he uses is now used against him.
